Students are responsible for all travel costs + lodging. Feel free to stay anywhere in the Petoskey area, or book a room across the street from our design space at Hotel Walloon. (Mention you’re a Sweetwater Design Student and receive a 10% discount!)
Closest airports; TVC, PLN, GRR, DTW.
Please note a minimum of 10 attendees is required per session for us to run programming that weekend. If this event should be cancelled due to low enrollment you will be refunded.
What is Design Intensive Weekend?
Design Intensive Weekend was born out of a need I experienced first hand in the flower space. I needed somewhere I could go to ask the questions, practice the design work, learn the basics for the stuff that left me boggled and feel safe doing it all.
I wanted a place with zero judgement or ego. I wanted a place where I was welcome to show up as I was fully and not be embarrassed about my beginner level skills or feel like I had to impress anyone. I needed a weekend away to fully dive into the work and focus on where I wanted my flower passion to take me. I knew flowers made me happy and I was hell bent on finding a way to get more of them in my life and more money in my pockets doing it.
When is Design Intensive Weekend?
In 2024 our program will run 9-5 Saturday and 10-1 Sunday.. you have unlimited access to the Sweetwater team for conversation, questions and feedback. (Please note a minimum of 10 attendees is required per session for us to run programming that weekend.)

*NEW THIS YEAR* the option to add on: “BTS” Behind The Shop an additional workshop held on Sunday of Design Intensive Weekend, this will cover in depth the processes, systems & workflows we use in the shop to run a profitable retail space that is a full service flower shop. Cristi, Shop Manager will share her expertise, tour the shop with us for an indepth look at how we set ourselves up for success. This add on is a must for anyone who wants to go into retail or current retail owners looking for some fresh inspo. The cost for BTS added on is $350 and it will run from 1-4 on Sunday. We will email asking if you’d like to add it on AFTER you purchase a ticket to Design Intensive Weekend.
