10 Things We Love Most About Northern Michigan
Hi friends. So as most of you know by now our team has been lucky enough to snag Taylor this year. She's been with us since May. Chances are, if you've dealt with our flower tribe or Sweetwater Lavender Farm since then, you've met Taylor. She is one of the hardest working, loveliest, most talented people I've ever had the opportunity to collaborate with and I'm honored to call her my friend.
Taylor is also a lovely writer. You'll be seeing some of her work on here from time to time as we chug along in the season. Her first Stems & Sprigs blog entry is one that makes me so excited because if Taylor and I share a love of anything, its Northern Michigan. (It's also coffee, wine, cheese, wearing gross messy buns & over the top bridal bouquets ;) )
"10 Things We Love Most About Northern Michigan"
Okay, first of all there are way more than 10 reasons to love this beautiful place...but we don't have all day and our list could go on literally forever.
So whether you live here, or you live south of that invisible (exact location debatable) line that separates Up North from Downstate, you have your own list tucked away in your mind filled with the things that you love most about northern Michigan. Memories from vacations and day-trips, or the house you grew up in.
Here are 10 reasons we love #northernMichigan:
1. The Many Scenic Views
From the Sleeping Bear Dunes to the Pictured Rocks, and many other places in between, there are so many beautiful views to see and enjoy.
2. Wineries, Breweries, and Coffee Houses
Lots of cool, yummy places to sit down and taste. For example, all of our favorites on the Old Mission Peninsula, that one brewery in Bellaire, and the coffee right here in downtown Petoskey that always keeps us going.
3. The Shops
There is always a place around the corner with goodies you can purchase to remember your trip or gift at holidays!
4. The Food
From the farmers markets every weekend, to the local restaurants we love visiting even on the weekdays.
5. Outdoor Recreation
Hiking, snowmobiling, skiing, biking, boating, and swimming - you name it! Thankfully there are many areas to participate in many different kinds of recreation throughout the year.
6. The Water
Inland lakes, spring lakes, rivers and streams, and of course, the big ones.
7. The Seasons
There are technically four, but some years it feels like there is only two or three....oh, northern Michigan weather...we secretly love your beauty and unpredictability.
8. The Events and Celebrations
All year long northern Michigan gives us a reason to celebrate!
9. The People We Work With
(Kalin here, I swear I did not encourage her to write this.... :) Taylor, the feeling is mutual!
10. The Way of Life
Up here you're reminded to enjoy life, take in the views, and not worry so often. It's your place where you can wake up with the sunrise, then later cuddle up and watch the sunset.
